YOUTH PARLIAMENT
APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR YP2024 ON 1 JANUARY 2024!
YP is a program run by young people for young people, it's an unmissable opportunity for under 25 to express their views on issues they are passionate about, develop confidence and leadership skills, and explore new opportunities in a safe and supportive environment.
Participants take part in a two (2) day Training Weekend where they learn essential parliamentary and leadership skills to use during the six (6) day Parliament Week in July.

WHO CAN APPLY? South Australian residents aged 15 - 25 years old
COST: A participation fee of $500 per person which covers meals, accommodation and transport during Parliament Week
SPONSORSHIP: Participants can receive assistance in the program to seek external sponsorship for participant fees
RURAL & REGIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS: Travel Scholarships Available to assist with the additional transport

YMCA South Australia Youth Parliament is a non-partisan program providing a platform for young people aged 15 - 25 to have their say on important issues, build skills and parliamentary understanding. It focuses on personal development, empowerment and connecting politicians and decision makers with youth voices and opinions.
The Youth Parliament program runs from March to August every year and includes mentoring, a training weekend, a week-long camp and access to Parliament House. Every year, young leaders come together to learn about public speaking, parliamentary etiquette, bill development and youth advocacy. They share their big ideas, discuss the challenges facing South Australia and create solutions in the form of Youth Bills.

Who can apply to be a part of Youth Parliament?
South Australian residents aged 15-25 years.
Where does the YMCA SA Youth Parliament take place?
Both Training Weekend and Parliament Week take place in Adelaide, South Australia. Accommodation is provided for Parliament Week but is not for Training Weekend (except for regional participants).
Is there a participation fee for Youth Parliament?
Yes. There is a $500 participant fee which covers meals, accommodation and transport during Parliament Week.
Can I get assistance with paying the participant fee?
Yes! We do not want the participant fee to be a barrier to participation. If your application is successful, the dedicated Taskforce which runs the program can help you seek external sponsorship.
When do applications close?
Applications are set to close on Monday, 17 th March 2024.

Do you have a passion for the environment? You may like to apply to join the Youth Environment Council (YEC) So what is the YEC about? UNLEY COUNCIL LIVING YOUNG REFERENCE GROUP
Living Young Reference Group creates an opportunity for passionate young people aged 12 – 25 years to engage with Unley Council and other local organisations about issues that are important to them. Participants will be inducted as Council volunteers and will have access to a range of training and skill development opportunities. Watch out for information around the school promoting activities that are organised by Unley Council and members of this group. We have several Concordia students who applied to be part of the group in 2022. Their service will continue throughout 2023. See more information here.
